Where Can I find a Buggy? - Try your local classified section, Parts Swapper, or eBay for a few
good choices. Usually at any time you will be able to find a half dozen well loved, but forgotten buggies in
something less than 100% state of completion. If you go via the Internet, remember that shipping charges can
often be more than the cost of the bug! Know where you are dealing from!
Depending on the condition, anything from $100 to 3 or 6,000 could be appropriate. Any average driver today
has to be worth $3-4,000, less if not running, more with the expensive stuff. All you have to do is ask yourself,
how much is missing, how much can you do or want to do and how much do you want to spend. And try to be
honest! Then, the best advice would have to be, buy the best car you can afford. Someone else's labor almost
always comes free of charge in any partial project (and some times it's not even worth that :-). But potentially, it's
a lot less work for you to and get something running and usable and better than starting from scratch.
A lot of the fun of ownership with a buggy is the fact that you did not have to finance your life away to get it
drivable. If your interest includes show perfection, sure you'll be spending more, but still a lot less than on a 100
point Corvette.
I've seen plenty of dune buggy owners go well over $10,000+ and not have everything sorted out yet, parts add
up fast, money goes fast. I'd think pretty hard at refusing a running cars simply because of bad paint, or some bad
tire or wheel combination or some other easy fix..
